Linoleum Spine
This exhibition includes three interrelated bodies of work:
Body Geometry is a group of glazed ceramic sculptures that integrate bodily organic forms with geometric forms culled from personal experiences and the psychological impact of medical procedures and surveillance. They are shown on pedestals with edging details inspired by interlocking waiting room chairs; some are topped with partially focused photographs of linoleum.
Declining Figure is body-sized fragmented figure sculpture that is shown in tandem with two “monitors” – the close up and partially focused photos of drop ceiling tiles are hung at the tilt and height of waiting room TVs.
The Body is Severed but the Human Remains is a suite of drawings that depict sculptural figurative forms in imagined medical spaces.
